More Torontonians are contributing to the revitalization of Thorold

Owen Hughes

More people are moving from Toronto to Thorold after realizing the appeal of the small-town lifestyle. It has many solutions to common complaints city dwellers have: less traffic, commutable distance, more space, and an affordable cost of living.

Last year, and well into this year, Niagara experienced a real estate boom caused by Toronto residents making the move away from the big city. While the housing market has cooled down slightly, Thorold is still growing rapidly, bringing hope to this once-overlooked city.

Why Come From Toronto to Thorold?

Thorold is roughly an hour and a half from Toronto, and with the new GO train expansion, it’s a commutable distance back and forth. People are also beginning to realize the benefits of a slower-paced lifestyle that takes them out of the chaotic, big city rush. It’s also a much better deal- the housing market in Niagara is lower than in Toronto, so people can sell their homes for a less expensive (and sometimes bigger) one here, earning a profit from the move.

A Housing Boom in Thorold

Development in Niagara is still seeing an increase, as there are hundreds of new housing developments currently being built in Thorold. There are also land plots waiting to be zoned to build even more projects. In fact, Mayor Ted Luciani has stated that he has never seen this much development in the city of Thorold.

Contributing to the Revitalization of Thorold

More housing, city developments, and new businesses in Thorold are giving new life to this small city. Downtown Thorold offers many dining options and a historic heritage, with many community events and a close proximity to St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

Development in Niagara is Making the Region More Appealing Every Day

With more and more development in Niagara, it’s no wonder businesses and families alike are seeing opportunities for investment and growth here. With big developments such as the approved GO train expansion, new hospital construction, and the blossoming wine industry, it’s hard not to love what this region has to offer.
