Welland’s newest residential development planned for Hilda subdivision

Owen Hughes

Welland’s residential boom is continuing with the newest subdivision to go into talks: an 11-unit subdivision on Hilda and Aqueduct streets.

The often-overlooked city is currently undergoing developments in many different areas, offering a promising future for local growth. This is just another way that the growth and development of Niagara is still undergoing a major boom, and shaping up to provide an appealing location for many investors.

A New Residential Development for Welland

The new project is going to be an 11-unit residential subdivision with 10 single-detached homes: 7 will face the south side of Hilda street, with 4 facing the east side of Aqueduct streets. The final, 11th property is a currently existing home that will remain where it is now. Right now, the project has not been confirmed due to some rising issues that the development has faced.

Finding a Solution to a Traffic Nightmare

One of the main factors that has threatened to halt the project has been concerns voiced by neighbourhood residents about traffic in the area. The potential driveways to enter the subdivision would exit out onto the south side of Hilda street, which has a median in the road. There are also concerns about overflow parking, the need to shut down Hilda street in the future, and the loss of trees in the area.

A New Proposal to the City of Welland

Due to the concerns of the residents, an alternative proposal has been sent for application to the City of Welland. The city now has to confirm. Since the proposal has been based on the residents’ concerns, all parties are hopeful that there will be a resolution as soon as possible.

This new residential development goes to show that Niagara is still an up-and-coming place for business and investment to foster growth and success. It’s a great time to consider purchasing investment or commercial property.
