Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), one of Canada’s most trusted sources of housing information and analysis, recently released the Housing Market Information Portal in June, 2014. The new web-based tool enables users to access housing market data in one convenient location.
The Housing Market Information Portal allows you to address a wide range of strategic business needs. One of the biggest benefits of the Information Portal is that CMHC now includes mapping on the site, whereas before you were required to go through links to get reports for certain areas.
While the portal allows you to narrow in on specific cities, its major benefit is that allows you to narrow in on neighbourhoods and collect data on a neighbourhood level. You can now see vacancy, number of apartment units, and average rents for a specific neighbourhood, and it shows trending for four years.
The new web tool provides quick and easy access to data with the added benefit of the device saving your favourite housing data to your personal library as well as being notified when new data in your library is made available.
