The street is primarily commercial with a number of multi-residential and single family homes spread throughout. Downtown section of Ontario St.
This section of Ontario St. is populated with multi-residential buildings, mixed-use buildings, office buildings, parking lots and restaurants. It acts as a gateway into and out of the downtown core. In recent news, the vacant Hotel Dieu hospital site is set to be revitalized with a new retirement community project estimated at $145 million dollars. This will add a new residential element to downtown St. Catharines and Ontario St.
