Owen Hughes

In recent weeks, it has been announced that Niagara Falls is to add a new addition to their list of Niagara tourism property. A new 5,000-seat theater was announced which is rumored to potentially replace the 1,500-seat Avalon Ballroom currently located inside the Fallsview Casino property. The location of the new theater will be located next to the Hilton Hotel and be connected to Fallsview Casino by an enclosed walkway. This Niagara development is a partnership with Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. (OLG), will cost an estimated $130 million dollars to develop and is expected to open in 2019.

The New Property

Development plans have not yet been made public and information regarding a groundbreaking ceremony are currently in the planning. Niagara Falls Entertainment has been noted as the winning consortium to design, build, finance and maintain the new Niagara Falls development. Potential development plans for the new Niagara Falls theater have been mentioned, noting that the new development property is to be designed in such a way that it will animate the street. Attracting tourists and drawing people's attention, all while adding to the overall aesthetic of the downtown Niagara Falls core.

Newest Addition to Tourism Developments in Niagara

Niagara Falls has always been known as a place for tourism. Besides the world wide known falls, Niagara Falls has some fun attractions for tourists. This new addition to the list of tourism properties will potentially increase the number of tourists that visit Niagara Falls in a year. By having a larger theater in the area it will also promote larger shows. Increasing the number of large performance that occur in Niagara Falls. Not only will this increase the number of performances that may take place at the new theater, but the new theater will allow for a much larger audience.

With the Niagara Region constantly expanding and growing, the need for additional jobs is constantly increasing. Not only will the construction of the new theater add jobs to the Niagara Region, but in order to run the theatre, it will require a full staff, once again adding jobs.
